Ashley is an illustrator based in Portland, Oregon. She studied art and creative writing at Portland State University, starting her art journey with a foundation in watercolor and life drawing. Since then, Ashley has continued her practice through independent studies. She is a mixed media artist and works in watercolor, gouache, colored pencil, marker, and pastel.

 

Ashley finds joy in creating art that captures the emotional complexities that are often difficult to articulate, and are universal to us all such as grief, joy, and sadness. Nature themes play an important role in her work as well. With a background in Early Childhood Education, she has an insight in the significance of the impact of children's books on young children.

 

Her work has been exhibited in Northwest Portland celebrating the magnificent Forest Park. Additionally, she has collaborated with local organizations such as Corporeal Writing and Friends of Peninsula Park Rose Garden. Additionally, Ashley worked as a portrait artist for students graduating from Childroots Center for Young Children.
